East PoS is a region with many environmental challenges, and prone to hazards and natural disasters including flooding, landslides, hurricanes, and earthquakes. Sustainable environmental management practices and designing for resiliency are key to hazard & disaster mitigation. Cleanliness is also key to livability.

Short Term: 1-3 Years / Long Term: 7+ Years

Commission & implement focused hazard/disaster mitigation strategy to address climate change and other threats.

  • The plan should assess all of the threats facing the region, including those resulting from acute natural disasters, new norms brought about by climate change, and localised man-made hazards due to practices such as deforestation. It should address the threat level and likelihood of each hazard, mitigation measures, and adaptation strategies. This should also involve building codes/standards for resilient construction practices.
