The Plan identifies six (6) areas for designation as Comprehensive Development Areas under the provisions of the Town and Country Planning Act, Chapter 35:01, section 5 (4). These are areas which display characteristics of decay and dereliction in the quality of the housing stock; deficiencies in the extent and efficiency of infrastructure networks and the availability of social and community facilities; poor environmental quality and social conditions and dysfunctional land uses. Within a CDA the Act empowers the implementing agency to acquire and assemble land for development and redevelopment in accordance with an agreed development planning framework.
